Day 1: Four Course Lunch @ Quay

Highly recommend Quay if you’re looking somewhere fancy with good food and service to dine. The restaurant is situated along the river facing the Sydney Opera House – I would imagine it would be quite romantic for dinner.

Musical Inspired Melbourne Trip

Flew to Melbourne on the weekend for two musicals: Once and Strictly Ballroom. Both were spectacular and enjoyable to watch – highly recommend Once and Strictly Ballroom for anyone who loves romance, music and a bit of comedy.

Once is a Grammy, Tony and Academy award winning musical – an exhilarating ‘Guy meets Girl’ musical performed by an extraordinary cast of actor-musicians who sing, dance and play their hearts out on stage. Simple staging but brilliant. It is set in modern day Dublin, about a Guy who gave up on his music and his love and the Girl who inspired him to dream again. If you’re there early you could even go onto the stage and check it out! There’s also a movie as well @The Princess Theatre (http://oncemusical.com.au/)

IMG_6596 IMG_6598   IMG_20150131_181304

Strictly Ballroom which some maybe familiar with the film about “championship ballroom dancer who defies all the rules to follow his heart.” It has won and been nominated for countless awards and now this new musical production is playing @ Her Majesty’s Theatre. The extravagant and glamorous costumes and staging, performance by talented dancers/singers – definitely worth seeing! Favourite scene would be them doing the Pasodoble.

National Gallery of Victoria: Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition

“The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” @NGV

Visited the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne last weekend to see Jean Paul Gaultier’s Exhibition.

Jean Paul Gaultier, fashion designer for French Haute Couture and Pret-a-Porter. He had designed costumes and haute couture dresses for Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Nicole Kidman and many more. The exhibition was spectacular – featuring more than 140 Gaultier’s unconventional, playful and superbly crafted garments (some takes over 200 working hours to complete) from 1971 to the present.  In addition to photographs, sketches, stage costumes, excerpts from runway shows, film, television, concerts and dance performances. The exhibition is only available @ NGV until 8th Feb 2015- definitely worth going!! AMAZING!

Here’s quick sneak peek
